Having come through depression, it’s just in me to always try not to go there again. It was incredibly difficult to exit that headspace, and I genuinely feel for those who can’t seem to exit. May I never be dismissive, or disappointing, to those struggling with their mental health. I’ve spoken to so many people who have zero desire to empathize with their loved ones, because they were raised to believe all types of things
1. Pray about it
2. Black people don’t go to therapist
3. Family problems should stay within the family
4. Cousin Sarah had postpartum, and they’re just fine!

To those of you struggling… I’m here to remind you that
1. you are loved
2. Your feelings are valid
3. There is nothing wrong with seeking help, when you need it
